The data indicate that the SC ordered PEMRA to conduct a thorough reevaluation of the case in response to requests from the impacted TV networks.

The court stressed the value of due process and gave PEMRA three months to finish the proceedings pertaining to the show-cause letters sent to the TV broadcasters.

When delivering the court’s decision, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah expressed doubts about the PEMRA committee’s jurisdiction to impose penalties in certain situations.

It is important to note that media outlets that disseminated misleading information about the explosion in Lahore were fined by PEMRA in 2017.
