The Lahore High Court (LHC) has dismissed a petition for the prompt removal of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif’s image from the Ramazan ration bag.

Judge Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court presided over the suit seeking the removal of Nawaz Sharif’s image on ration bags. Attorney Salma Riaz presented persuasive arguments on behalf of the petitioner.

The petitioner’s counsel argued that using public funds for personal promotion and distributing flour in such a manner constituted a violation of people’ dignity.

The petitioner appealed to the court to prohibit the inclusion of the PML-N leader’s image on the ration bag. In addition, he petitioned the court to instruct the relevant authorities to refrain from damaging the dignity of the citizens during the distribution of flour.

In addition, he implored the court to issue a directive to the Punjab government, compelling them to provide funds from the Benazir Income Support Programme directly to individuals at their residences.

The court dismissed the request to promptly eliminate Nawaz Sharif’s photograph off the Ramazan package ration bags and issued a notice to the Punjab government, demanding a response.
