LAHORE: According to ARY News on Wednesday, Chaudhry Pervaiz’s plea to use the “Peacock” as an election emblem was denied by the Lahore High Court (LHC).

The high court bench maintained the electoral commission’s choice of “donkey cart” as the election emblem, which was given to Pervaiz Elahi.

at a petition filed at the LHC, the former chief minister of Punjab and leader of the PTI requested a review of the electoral emblem assigned to him and urged that the “peacock” be granted to him instead.

Last Friday, the Pakistani Supreme Court gave Pervaiz Elahi permission to run in the elections scheduled for February 8.

Judge Mansoor Ali Shah’s three-member SC panel gave the PTI politician permission to run in the general election from Gujarat district’s PP-32 seat.

To obtain authorization to run in the main election, Elahi had petitioned the Supreme Court. He designated the appeal tribunal and the electoral commission as respondents.

He begged the supreme court to deem the Lahore High Court’s ruling on January 13, 2024, null and invalid.

His appeal against the returning officer’s rejection of his nomination papers was denied by the high court. In the election appellate tribunal, he challenged this ruling; nevertheless, his appeal was also denied.

Following the violent turmoil in the nation following Imran Khan’s initial detention on May 9, a crackdown on PTI leadership has resulted in the arrest of various PTI leaders and supporters, including Pervaiz Elahi.
