KP CM Gandapur’s angry tirade on dishonest cops

The chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, encourages citizens to take action while disciplining dishonest officials.

Speaking to villagers in Dera Ismail Khan, Gandapur proposed that rather than lodging complaints with him regarding dishonest officers, the populace should take bricks and bash the heads of those implicated in corruption and bribery.

He cited the Quran in saying that torment was the fate of both bribers and receivers. He promised to make sure the province’s judicial and governance systems are open, affordable, and transparent.

Gandapur’s controversial remarks have drawn notice; some have praised him for taking such a stand, while others have expressed reservations.

Critics argue that Gandapur’s latest remarks undermine institutional legitimacy and legal standards, in addition to endorsing violence.

Gandapur, a prominent figure in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was unanimously chosen by the Assembly’s two-thirds majority to serve as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s 19th chief minister.
