Instagram is set to introduce a suite of new features aimed at combating spam and providing creators with enhanced control over their accounts.
In a blog post on December 13, Instagram acknowledged the time-consuming nature of moderating spam and removing fake accounts, emphasising the importance of enabling creators to spend more time engaging with their genuine followers.
The upcoming features leverage advanced detection technology to identify potential spam activity, allowing users to manage fake followers in bulk.
The new tools include an inbox for suspected spam or bot requests, enabling users to easily accept or delete accounts with a single click.
Additionally, users can review and remove followers flagged as potential bots without alerting the removed accounts. Another feature facilitates the moderation of spammy tags, allowing users to review and delete potentially spammy tags in bulk or automatically remove them after 30 days of inaction.
Instagram is also experimenting with hiding views on stories that may be spam, limiting unwanted interaction.
The planned features, designed to enhance transparency and user control, are expected to roll out over the coming weeks, streamlining the process of maintaining account integrity and fostering authentic interactions on the platform.
