Eight judges of the Islamabad High Court, four judges of the Lahore High Court, and four justices of the SC, including Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, had reportedly received “threatening letters with suspicious powder.”
Today, when presiding over a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, he declared that this issue will be handled responsibly. He underlined that politics has no place in this situation.
PM Shehbaz Sharif recalled that an inquiry commission was established to look into the concerns raised by the six justices of the Islamabad High Court with the approval and consultation of former top justice of Pakistan, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, who is now retired.
He added that the former chief justice had resigned from leading the probe commission, but it was too late. He remarked that the Supreme Court has now given this issue its own notice.
In reference to his recent meeting with several ministries, the premier announced that he has chosen to carry out a sector-by-sector examination of these ministries in order to address their issues. He underlined how crucial it is to move the economy in the direction of self-reliance.
Shehbaz Sharif voiced his happiness at the inflation rate gradually declining.
According to him, measures are being taken to lower inflation, ease unemployment, and combat poverty.
He also conveyed confidence that, following board approval, the IMF will disburse the final tranche of 1.1 billion dollars under the standby arrangement this month.
According to the prime minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, the finance minister, is going to Washington to have discussions with the IMF on a new program.
