The IHC directs the superintendent of Adiala Jail to schedule the PTI founder’s virtual meetings.

Until the security concerns are addressed, the superintendent of Adiala Jail is mandated by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to set up online sessions between the PTI founder, his attorneys, and relatives.

In response to the PTI founder’s request for permission to see his family members and attorneys, the court issued a formal ruling. Additionally, on March 22, the IHC requested that the jail superintendent produce an implementation report.

The printed ruling said that meetings of attorneys in the jail were prohibited for security concerns. The court ruled that in the event that meetings were not possible, internet access ought to be available in the jail.

Additionally, it was mentioned that the Advocate General of Islamabad had objected to the jail rules’ prohibition on online gatherings.

The advocate general’s claim that there will be political talks during the virtual conference surprised the court. “What will be discussed other than political matters if actual meeting are held,” the judge inquired.

The PTI attorneys had petitioned the jail superintendent for contempt of court since the former prime minister was not allowed to contact with attorneys and family members who were incarcerated, in violation of the ruling.
