  • Imran Khan says SC verdict an assertion of rule of law in Pakistan.
  • Fawad Chaudhry declares verdict an endorsement of PTI’s stance.
  • Chaudhry labels apex court’s ruling “unanimous verdict”.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday welcomed the Supreme Court (SC) verdict in the election suo motu notice and announced the suspension of the “Jail Bharo Tehreek”, saying the party will move forward with election campaigns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab.

“We welcome the SC judgement. It was the responsibility of SC to uphold the Constitution and they have valiantly done that through their judgement today,” the former prime minister said after the top court’s ruling to hold elections in the provinces within 90 days.

In a split verdict today, the Supreme Court asked the president to consult with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and fix a date for elections in Punjab while the governor KP was ordered to announce a date for the election in the province.

Imran Khan, whose party was one of the petitioners in the election delay case, said it is an assertion of the rule of law in Pakistan.

“We are suspending our Jail Bharo movement and moving forward with election campaigns in KP and Punjab.”

Earlier in the day, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry had declared the verdict as an endorsement of their stance.

“It’s a unanimous verdict in fact as Justice Mansoor Ali Shah also said that when the Lahore High Court had taken up the matter and ruled that the elections should be held in 90 days so the Supreme Court shouldn’t have taken suo motu notice on it,” Chauhdry said.

“So he is also agreeing with our stance. And it’s a victory for the Constitution.”

Meanwhile, stopping Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid from speaking outside the apex court following the verdict, Fawad said that the president has been asked to announce the election in Punjab while the governor is directed to fix the poll date in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Supreme Court, the PTI leader added, has bound the federation to provide all sorts of support with its security or provision of funds.

“Election is the foundation of the state.”

On the other hand, AML Sheikh Rashid congratulated the nation on the verdict and asked the country to “prepare for the elections”.

“It’s a big victory. The Constitution has won, and the people of Pakistan have won.”

He predicted: “Inshallah, PTI is going to form governments in KP and Punjab”.

In a statement later, PTI leader Faisal Javed Khan said that his party’s chairman has announced to kickstart the election campaign.

“Door-to-door campaigns and large rallies will be organised in the election campaign. The schedule of the rallies will be released in a few days.”

Fazlur Rehman “The PTI founder’s release appears doubtful at this time,” JUI Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman told reporters in the Cathedral City of Wakefield. The JUI-F acknowledged the uncertainty of political transitions, nevertheless.

“I cannot comment on hearsay; I am not aware of any deal with the founder of PTI,” Fazlur Rehman said.

In response to a query about allegedly helping to get bail for Imran Khan’s sisters and wife Bushra Bibi, Fazlur Rehman emphasized that these matters were handled “independently.” He also affirmed that the public has the right to protest and that PTI’s protests shouldn’t be stopped.

He claimed that after a month of discussions, the draft of the 26th Constitutional Amendment was trimmed from 56 clauses to 22.

In his media appearance, Fazlur Rehman criticized the tendency of political party leaders to compromise, citing this as the cause of “frail democracy.” He also emphasized that a strong army is essential to a safe Pakistan and stated his support for a robust military.

The JUI chief stated that the Kashmiri people now have the key to the solution in his remarks regarding the problem. The head of JUI stated that although a meeting with PML-N President Nawaz Sharif is not scheduled, it would not be problematic if it did occur.

Fazlur Rehman declared public meetings for Sukkur at the end of November and Peshawar on December 8.

Asad Qaiser, the leader of the PTI, met with Maulana Fazalur Rehman, the leader of the JUI-F, in the federal capital earlier on November 5th to discuss possible coordinated activities against the government.

The PTI delegation had asked for the meeting on November 4th, but it was turned down, according to sources. However, following internal discussions, JUI-F decided to meet on Tuesday.

Both sides agreed to revive current parliamentary committees during the conversation, and they also contemplated starting a coordinated campaign against the government. Additionally, they talked about contacting other opposition groups.

If PTI wants to work together successfully in the future, JUI-F said they need to be more serious.

When asked about their future intentions with JUI-F, PTI decided to contact their founder, Imran Khan, and senior cadre. Both parties decided to step up their efforts once Maulana Fazlur Rehman returned from his international tour.

Using what he called “similarities” in their political philosophies, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah compared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to US President-elect Donald Trump.

Donald Trump and Imran Khan are “known for spreading falsehoods, mocking others, and attacking institutions,” according to Rana Sanaullah, who made this statement during the “Khabar Muhammad Malick Ke Saath” program.

The similarities between Donald Trump and Imran Khan are numerous, including their use of deceit, mockery, and unlawful means to get their demands met. “He (Donald Trump) rallied his backing and launched an assault on the White House,” the prime minister’s special adviser on political matters stated.

When asked about the congratulations given to the US president-elect by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, Rana Sanaullah responded that it was “just a mere diplomatic gesture and formality.”

Rana Sanaullah responded, “I do not believe the US government will do so,” when asked if the federal government will issue an order for Imran Khan’s release.

In order for these two brothers to cooperate, I believe that Imran Khan should be turned over to the United States if Donald Trump so desires. If the United States desires to exchange Imran Khan for the release of Aafia Siddiqui, the country would likely consent, according to Rana Sanaullah.
