Ecstatic PTI supporters celebrate top court’s decision to release Imran Khan

Elated supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) poured into the streets soon after the Supreme Court’s verdict to release party chairman Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

The apex court on Tuesday announced that the former prime minister’s arrest was “illegal” and directed authorities to release him “immediately”.

Soon after that, the supporters and party workers championed the court’s decision.

Ex-special assistant to the prime minister on youth affairs Usman Dar called on the party supporters to take to the streets to express solidarity and gratitude to the top court.

“All Pakistanis, wherever they are, should come out to express solidarity and gratitude to the Supreme Court in their respective areas,” the PTI leader tweeted.

PTI leader Imran Ismail was also overjoyed at the SC’s verdict. “Imran Khan released by Supreme Court. Pakistan zindabad,” he wrote on the  popular microblogging site.

Pakistani actress Mishi Khan thanked the top court and Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial for giving a “fair and right verdict”.

Imran Khan’s ex-wife, Jemima Goldsmith, also celebrated the SC’s decision.

Taking to Twitter, Goldsmith wrote: “Finally sense has prevailed.”

The Lahore High Court Chief Justice has referred Fawad’s request for an extension of protective bail to a division bench.

The Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the appeal for an extension of protective bail for former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry to be forwarded to a division bench.

Fawad and his wife Hiba Fawad presented themselves in front of Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan.

The individual stated that the LHC had granted him protected bail in 36 cases and urged the court to order an extension of his bail.

The chief judge forwarded his request to the division bench led by judge Alia Neelam.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Karachi for a one-day visit today.

The prime minister was greeted at the airport by Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

Shortly after his arrival, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid a visit to Mazar-e-Quaid, where he offered Fateha and placed a floral wreath. He recorded his perceptions in the book.

During his visit, the prime minister will convene discussions with the governor and the chief minister of Sindh to examine the comprehensive political situation and administrative matters of the province.

In addition, the prime minister will also engage with influential figures from the business community and a delegation from the Karachi Chamber of Commerce.

During these discussions, the Prime Minister will solicit recommendations from the business community regarding the enhancement of the nation’s economy.

The prime minister visited Mazar-e-Quaid shortly after arriving and placed a floral wreath and made an offering of Fateha. He recorded his impressions in the book as well.

The prime minister will meet with Sindh’s chief minister and governor during his day-long visit, during which time the province’s administrative issues and general political climate will be reviewed.

Along with this, PM Shehbaz Sharif will meet with a delegation from the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and notable figures in the business community.

The premier will solicit ideas for enhancing the nation’s economy from the business community during these discussions.
