The United Nations will discuss a proposal put forth by Pakistan that seeks to outlaw the sale of weapons to Israel during a meeting on Friday.

Significant interest and discussion have been generated in the world community by the text of this resolution, which Pakistan submitted to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on behalf of 55 UN members.

The lengthy resolution, spanning eight pages, lays out strict conditions for Israel, demanding that it immediately cease its occupation of Gaza and Palestinian territory. The resolution’s demand that Israel lift its illegal siege of the Gaza Strip is one of its main points.

The resolution also emphasizes how urgent it is to stop the sale or transfer of explosives and other military hardware to Israel, highlighting the necessity of limiting the spread of weapons that worsen the continuing crisis in the region.

The majority of OIC members have overwhelmingly supported the idea, demonstrating a concerted effort to solve the long-standing security and humanitarian issues resulting from the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The resolution stands for a united front against Israel’s abuses and transgressions of international law, especially with regard to how it treats the Palestinian people.
