The federal government has made the decision to expedite its search for gas and oil within the nation’s marine borders.

Information reveals that, in order to ensure the country’s energy security, more would be done to discover oil and gas in the coastal seas. In addition, the prime minister has given the order to hire outside specialists in this area within two months.

The two offshore basins in the nation, the Indus and Makran, are thought to have enormous amounts of gas and oil reserves, according to sources in the Petroleum Division.

Only fourteen sea wells have been drilled in Pakistan’s 77-year history in an effort to find oil and gas.

Recall that last year, during the Petroleum Conference 2024 in Islamabad, it was stressed how important it is to work together to find oil and gas reserves both inside and outside of the ocean.
